About Us

Holland Releasing, based in the Los Angeles suburb of Calabasas, has grown to be one of the world's largest independent theatrical distributors of specialty 35mm motion pictures. The company's film library ranges from Oscar-winning classics like Mike Nichol's masterpiece THE GRADUATE, to George A. Romero's NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and Ed Wood's hilariously infamous PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE.   While most of the major studios are reducing their inventories of 35mm prints in order to cut their costs as well as to sway theatres to move to expensive all-digital projection systems, Holland Releasing continues to add new titles to its expanding repertory library.  This has created a superb niche market for Holland Releasing, since thousands of repertory, art house and mom-and-pop theatres around the world intend to continue to project 35mm films -- still considered  the only time-proven and cost-effective theatrical format.

Holland Releasing is part of Holland Entertainment Group, Inc., founded in 1990 by former Columbia Pictures Television executive Thomas W. Holland.  During Holland's tenure at the studio as Vice-President of Distribution, he syndicated such successful programs as CHARLIES ANGELS,  STARSKY & HUTCH, JOHNNY CARSON and BARNEY MILLER, which was the most profitable program for the studio at the time.  Tom Holland was also Chief Operating Officer of Screen Gems, a joint venture between the Coca-Cola Company, Columbia Pictures Television and Color Systems Technology and was a pioneer in the field of the colorization of black-and-white motion pictures.

Since its inception, Holland Entertainment has produced numerous television programs and series including THE MAKING OF IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE produced for Paramount Pictures, EARTH TV produced for The Travel Channel, FRANK CAPRA: A PERSONAL REMEMBRANCE produced for The Disney Channel, THE GREAT CHRISTMAS MOVIES  produced for AMC, and THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY SALUTE TO THE THREE STOOGES for Fox Television.  Additionally, Holland Entertainment, in association with Pandora/France and Kaleidoscope/Canada, co-produced HOLLYWOOD BABYLON, starring Tony Curtis. 65 half-hour episodes were produced for CBS.  In association with Castle Rock Television, Holland co-produced OUT OF THE BLUE, a teen-oriented comedy series filmed at Sea World in Orlando, Florida.  26 half-hour episodes were produced.  Holland sold the series to Tribune Entertainment for worldwide syndication.

Company founder Tom Holland has also served as a television consultant to Castle Rock, RKO Pictures, Color Systems Technology, Trilogy Magazine and the   J. Peterman Company.

Currently, Holland Releasing is focusing on the expansion of its film library through partnerships with other motion picture distributors and copyright owners.  In addition to licensing its films for theatrical distribution, Holland Releasing also licenses to the television and home video markets, and is a leader in the transfer of classic films to High-Definition for broadcast and Blu-Ray release.
